Project Civil Engineer

GEI's Raleigh office is seeking a Project Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The candidate will be part of a connected team of GEI professionals working across the country. This individual will contribute to planning and implementation of water resource projects in a variety of natural and urban settings.
Under supervision of more senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing field and engineering design efforts. Field activities will include coordination and documentation of geotechnical and hydraulic investigations. The candidate will also provide support to ongoing design efforts that include preparation of design documents for stormwater management, dam rehabilitation, flood control, stream/river restoration, coastal/waterfront improvements, and shoreline protection/revitalization.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Execute technical projects and assignments in coordination with project managers and support staff. Example projects include dam removals, stream/river restoration, dam rehabilitation, flood control, stormwater management planning and design.
- Prepare detailed written memoranda and reports on technical assignments and present technical information to peers and clients.
- Prepare design documents including drawings, technical specifications, basis of design documents, bid documents and project schedules.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
- Working knowledge of Federal and Local regulatory and permitting requirements is desirable.
- Computer modeling, CAD and GIS experience a plus
Minimum Qualifications
- 2-8 Years of applicable professional experience.
- B.S. Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, M.S. considered a plus.
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license within four (4) years.
- Ability to work in a team environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel on temporary work assignments.
- Valid drivers license.
