Essential Responsibilities:
Assess the technical feasibility of custom product drawings/specifications in various formats and software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Propose exceptions and counterproposals to our customers where appropriate
Review customer documentation for quoting based on manufacturing process capability and our engineering design guidelines
Use CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks to review customer designs/specifications. Create accurate internal work instructions in collaboration with Engineering and Management
Be flexible as the position will require frequent collaboration with colleagues from multiple disciplines including Sales, Manufacturing, CAD and other technical teams in the organization
Train in product manufacturing processes to facilitate understanding of technology capabilities and product costs, including plating, sputtering and photolithography processes.
Job Experience/Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
5 years direct hands-on experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks
Competent in GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Demonstrated direct experience interpreting customer or internal specifications and technical drawings/prints
Some commercial experience preferred - working with Sales and Marketing teams to generate RFQ proposals
Some experience preferred with developing work instructions
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to learn quickly
Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to deliver accurate work
Thrives under time pressure - ability to work proactively and effectively across functions at all levels of the organization to "get things done" in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in an office/lab environment; adheres to required safety and dress standards to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly required to communicate, talk, and listen. May be required to sit, stand, walk for periods of time; bend, stoop, and twist; closely observe items through a microscope, and perform various repetitive fine grasping motions; uses a variety of small hand tools to perform various operations when required; operate a computer and enter information using a keyboard, operate a telephone, and other office equipment for an extended period of time. As some visual inspection duties will also be required, specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus. Some physical strength and stamina required for regular cleaning duties. May be exposed to hot/cold conditions, high-volume noise, exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.), and/or hazardous materials such as chemicals (e.g. alcohol, acetone, acids, solvents and photo resist) or particulate matter.
May be requested to work overtime and weekends to suit operational needs.
