Micropore Inc. is a specialty materials manufacturer producing high-value life support adsorbents for military and medical applications. Our CO2 absorbents are used on 80% of free world submarines, and all new US Navy SEAL combat diving rebreathers incorporate Micropore Absorbent Technology. We are experiencing rapid growth in our medical anesthesia product line and are seeking a product development engineer to support this expansion by developing new products, processes, and equipment.

Position Summary The Product Development Engineer supports current development projects and the implementation of new products and processes. You will work closely with and report to the Head of Engineering. Our engineering team is lean, flexible, and nimble, so you will also collaborate on process and quality engineering projects.
Responsibilities Product development using 3D CAD software
Establish and realize new product objectives
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis
Design and execute DoE for process development and validation
Define manufacturing techniques, equipment, and process integration
Conduct design failure modes and effects analysis, and other performance analyses
Apply knowledge of materials, standards, and testing
Maintain process definitions, work instructions, and documentation in QMS
Ensure safety procedures are followed
Apply basic knowledge of injection molding
Define parts specifications, sourcing, and supply chain management
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Capabilities Strong technical understanding of equipment and processes
Experience in product development within a 13485 regulated environment
Proficiency in 3D CAD with flow modeling and simulation
Knowledge of ISO 13485 documentation requirements
Integrity, organization, and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take initiative
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Adaptability to change
Requirements US citizen or permanent resident (green card)
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering
3-5 years supporting industrial processes
Preferred Qualifications Experience with polymer processing, including extrusion
Part and equipment design experience (Pro E/Creo preferred)
Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma techniques
Experience with ISO 9001:2018 and ISO 13485:2016 Quality Management Systems
Physical Requirements Sit at a computer 80% of the time; stand/walk 20%
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, crouching, crawling, etc.

Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year
