Position Summary
The Product Development Engineer is responsible for supporting current development projects, and implementation of new products/processes and will be working closely with and reporting to the Head of Engineering. However, Micropore's engineering team is lean, flexible and nimble, and so the Product Development Engineer should expect also to collaborate and contribute on process engineering and quality engineering projects as well.
Areas of Responsibility
Product development using 3D CAD product design software
Establish and realize new product objectives
Complete tolerance stack-up analysis
Design and execute DoE for process development and validation
Define manufacturing techniques, equipment, and process integration
Complete design failure modes and effects analysis, and other product performance analysis
Apply basic knowledge of materials, standards, and testing possibilities
Provide and maintain process definitions and work instructions and maintain documentation in QMS
Utilize a basic knowledge of good documentation practices (GDP)
Comply with all company safety procedures
Apply basic knowledge of injection molding
Parts specification definition and sourcing / supply chain management / compliance assistance
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of Engineering
Capabilities and Skills
Strong technical understanding in equipment and processes
Solid product development experience in a 13485 regulated environment
Strong 3D CAD experience with flow modeling, simulation and manufacturing experience
Experience of ISO 13485 documentation requirements

Requirements
Required Citizen or permanent resident (green card) of the United States
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Eng Minimum 3-5 years experience supporting industrial processes
Desired Experience with polymer processing, including extrusion
Part and equipment design experience Pro E/Creo preferred
Experience with Lean and Six-Sigma techniques
Experience operating under ISO 9001:2018 Quality Management System
Experience operating under ISO 13485:2016 Quality Management System
Physical
Sit at computer workstations 80% of the time and stand/walk 20% of the time
Tolerate noise levels from office, production, and lab equipment
Hear telephonic equipment and comfortably communicate by telephone and in person.

Lift to 40 lbs.
