Job Description
The Mechanical Implementation Engineer (Manufacturing Process Engineer) designs, develops, builds and tests mechanical systems and devices to create solutions that improve efficiency, safety and functionality. This role is responsible for developing and implementing process improvements in a highly engineered, low volume, complex manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies. This role involves problem-solving, analysis and hands-on work to develop, implement and improve mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, products, and systems, using CAD software.
- Ensures manufacturability for recommended designs using DFM, DFA and PFMEA tools.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct thorough process analysis and identify opportunities for improvements.
- Analyze and test prototypes to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
- Conduct research on product and system improvements and innovations, staying updated with the latest technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, manufacturing, and software engineers, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure design specifications are met during production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design, production, and testing issues, extensive background in poke-yoke solutions.
- Ability to lead, fabricate and implement changes to manufacturing processes.
- Develop appropriate KPI’s such as Labor Efficiency and COPQ metrics to demonstrate sustainable results.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing process engineering role, preferably in a low-volume, complex manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in process development, optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, such as welding, assembly, additive manufacturing and automation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to diagnose issues and propose effective solutions using 5 Why, 8D, Shanin, 4M advanced methodologies.
- 5+ years using advanced manufacturing tools such as DFA, DFM and PFMEA.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with experience in managing project timelines.
- Communication Skills: Effective at collaborating and communicating with interdisciplinary teams.
- Analytical Skills: Capable of interpreting data, performing calculations, and evaluating technical specifications.
