Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has a exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer – Web-Based SW Engineer to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position, and this role requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key part of the Missile Defense System. It offers an essential operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.
C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability that delivers an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both internationally and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a crucial component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
This position supports the C2BMC program in Colorado Springs, CO. It is a mid-level role focused on configuration management, software, and web development, supporting the tools development and management lead and the IT teams.
Essential Functions:
Supporting existing applications and developing user interfaces and tools for internal use on C2BMC
Responsible for understanding documented requirements, implementing solutions, and conducting unit testing of the tools and code
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
A DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) is required to start
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs are required
Knowledge of web-based software development and user interface design
Experience with frameworks for building web applications, such as Angular or React
Knowledge and experience in configuration management, software, and web development
Experience with relational , graph , or document databases
Experience with TypeScript, Docker, Elasticsearch, Bootstrap , and Jira
Experience with Continuous Integration ( CI ) / Continuous Deployment ( CD )
Experience with setting up Jenkins builds
Experience with software security tools such as HP Fortify and SonarQube
Experience with microservices, Swagger , and API definitions
Demonstrated use of integrated development environments (IDEs) and configuration management tools like Git and Bitbucket
Proficiency in Java , HTTP , JavaScript/JSON , CesiumJS open-source JavaScript library, and WildFly/JBossAS application server
Experience with platforms and tools should include:

Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience is highly preferred

Experience in DevOps / DevSecOps is a plus

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
