Principal Engineer - Commissioning
Savannah River Site - Aiken, SC RFQ# 1423/1425 | Deadline: 08/12/2025 Pay Rate: $89-$107/hour Based on benefits selected Work Schedule: 5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s | 40 hours/week Position Overview:
The Principal Engineer - Commissioning will define the scope of technical programs and develop high-quality solutions to unique or controversial challenges. This role provides critical leadership across technical areas, creatively applying site systems to achieve safe, timely, and cost-effective results. The selected individual will lead and mentor other professionals while ensuring compliance with SRNS and DOE technical and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead development and execution of commissioning/startup test programs Solve complex engineering problems using advanced technical practices Review and develop Technical Work Documents and Commissioning Test Procedures Perform technical evaluations and provide recommendations Guide and assist less senior staff on projects and technical challenges Prepare budgets, schedules, progress reports, and quality oversight Ensure alignment with project scope, cost, and schedule baselines Maintain knowledge of evolving technical advancements Occasionally author reports for external publication Demonstrate creativity via patents, technical reports, or publications Job Requirements

Required Qualifications: Education: Ph.D. + 5 years' experience, OR Master's + 8 years' experience, OR Bachelor's + 10 years' experience. Please Answer:
Experience: Extensive background in commissioning/startup testing. Please Answer: Familiarity with DOE Manual 5E and equivalent startup directives. Please Answer: Prior experience supporting DOE or commercial nuclear testing. Please Answer: Procedure writing, test execution, and design review experience. Please Answer: Proven accountability for project safety, schedule, and performance. Please Answer: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance. Please Answer:
Preferred Qualifications: Startup Testing Execution Qualification Level II or III (ASME NQA-1). Please Answer: Active DOE 'L' or 'Q' clearance within the past 2 years. Please Answer:
