Position Summary: Jefferies is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Petroleum Engineer to join its Investment Banking Energy Group at the Associate or Vice President level . This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in petroleum engineering and a passion for finance, who are looking to leverage their technical expertise in a dynamic, client-facing investment banking environment. Key Responsibilities: Technical Evaluation & Analysis : Conduct in-depth reservoir engineering analysis, decline curve analysis, and type curve generation. Evaluate oil and gas assets using engineering software and financial models. Interpret reserve reports, production data, and economic forecasts. Transaction Execution : Support M&A, capital markets, and restructuring transactions across upstream, midstream, and oilfield services sectors. Prepare and review client presentations, pitch books, and confidential information memoranda (CIMs). Coordinate due diligence processes and interact with clients, legal counsel, and third-party advisors. Financial Modeling & Valuation : Build and maintain detailed financial models incorporating technical asset data. Perform valuation analyses including DCF, NAV, precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis. Client Engagement : Participate in client meetings and presentations. Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, private equity firms, and institutional investors. Qualifications: Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering , Chemical Engineering , or related field is preferred MBA or CFA designation is a plus but not required. Experience : 2–6 years of experience in petroleum engineering, reservoir evaluation, or technical consulting. Prior experience in investment banking, energy private equity, or technical advisory is highly desirable. Skills : Strong technical proficiency in engineering software (e.g., Aries, PHDWin, Spotfire). Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial modeling. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with high attention to detail.
