Cyient is looking for a remote-based OSP Fielding Engineer to support fiber, FTTx, and copper overbuild projects in the greater Erie, PA region. This is a field-intensive role focused on collecting accurate data for Outside Plant (OSP) designs. The ideal candidate will have a background in telecom engineering or construction and a strong ability to self-manage work in the field.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
Perform field data collection and site surveys for OSP fiber and copper infrastructure
Assess current field conditions and validate asset placements
Support ongoing FTTx, BAU, and in-building design initiatives
Interface with customers and third-party representatives as needed
Provide daily progress updates to stakeholders and project managers
Utilize mobile devices, GPS tools, and design software (ICGS/IDDS, PRS) to input and analyze data
Manage multiple field locations and adjust work schedules as needed
Optional: Use company-provided vehicle for field work
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (college coursework a plus)
Experience in OSP engineering, construction, or field data collection
Comfortable with mobile devices, GPS tools, and handheld measuring instruments
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to read and interpret OSP design plans
Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Willingness to travel, including possible overnight stays
Required Skills
Knowledge of ICGS, IDDS, and PRS design tools
Familiarity with FTTx networks, copper plant design, and telecom infrastructure
Autodesk AutoCAD experience
Analytical thinking and field troubleshooting
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
