Responsibilities Develop Civil/Structural engineering specific solutions in support of plant activities, both emergent and scheduled. Including but not limited to: Engineering Change Packages Independent reviews of peer prepared engineering products Identify, evaluate, and advocate for resolution of structural related items to ensure safe and reliable operation. Primary engineering contact with Maintenance organization to resolve Civil related items that affect the Online schedule. Including but not limited to, Lifting/Rigging evaluations, Safe Load Paths, and Scaffold construction adequacy inspections. Performing project management functions for emergent work by participating in Emergent Issue teams and developing repair strategies for plant equipment. Provide technical support for shop maintenance including resolving complex technical questions, providing input to the contents of Maintenance procedures and resolving complex technical questions related to plant modification implementation. Provide Operability Determination Supporting Basis documentation to Operations for Civil related equipment or structural concerns. Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems of increasing scope and complexity. Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team. Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. Conducts engineering and related studies; completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems. Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies. Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files. Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally. Basic Qualifications Engineer III Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Not Technology) from an ABET accredited program. A master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree. Minimum of 4 years engineering experience. Experience must have been attained at a "Fully Meets" performance level. Senior Engineer Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A master’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree. Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer. Desired Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program. State Registration as a Professional Engineer. Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles. Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations. Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Good written and oral communication skills. Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam Increasingly proficient in principles of project management. Experience in the utility industry Advanced in application of industry Codes and Standards Perform/learn ASME B31.1 and ASME Section III pipe stress analysis Experience with STAAD, Mathcad, GTSTRUDL Base Plate (or similar), AISC, ACI and AWS Codes. Soils and concrete experience (design evaluations/field issues) Experience with nuclear industry standard design process Working Conditions Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to verify design and follow implementation. Support refueling outage schedule. 4-day week and 10 hr. day hybrid work schedule with 2 days remote and 2 in the office. Required to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed. Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires. Occasional overnight travel. Specific Requirements Nuclear Plant unescorted access This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty. ​ 1 year of nuclear power plant experience Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.
