Network Security Engineer - Contract to Hire

We are looking for a Network Security Engineer to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for designing and supporting enterprise network security solutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of firewall technologies, security platforms, and IT infrastructure, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and scalable network architectures

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level firewall solutions
  • Leverage security best practices and tools to analyze, monitor, and secure network environments
  • Review and correlate data from various logs to identify potential threats
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet project timelines and maintain system integrity
  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in network security engineering
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls (Palo Alto preferred, but other enterprise-grade systems accepted)
Certifications:
  • Security+ (Required)
  • CCNA or Palo Alto Certifications (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Network Security (2+ years)
  • Firewall management – Palo Alto or equivalent (2+ years)
  • Log analysis and threat correlation (1+ years)
  • Cloud platforms and network integration (1+ years)
  • IT infrastructure and networking technologies (2+ years)
  • Security best practices and incident response fundamentals
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written

Work Environment: 

  • Remote work from home. 
  • Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday. Specific business hours will depend on client needs. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. 
  • The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, library stacks, office machinery, etc. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer. 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
