Job Title: MuleSoft API Principal Engineer Location: TX - Dallas/Irving What you'll do: Seeking a highly experienced MuleSoft Principal Engineer II with 12+ years of expertise in API architecture, design, development, and full lifecycle management to lead the Payments API ecosystem. Responsibilities include optimizing vCore utilization, ensuring high availability, designing fault-tolerant, scalable payment API solutions, driving platform observability, leveraging Gen AI for API development, and continuous innovation to enhance business value. Technical: Architect, design, and implement MuleSoft APIs for high-performance, scalable, and secure payment processing. Optimize vCore utilization for cost efficiency and high availability. Develop resilient, fault-tolerant API architectures with zero-downtime deployments and disaster recovery. Manage full API lifecycle, including development, security, deployment, and maintenance. Implement API security best practices such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, and encryption for financial transactions. Ensure compliance with FDX standards for secure financial data exchange. Build event-driven architectures using Kafka for high-throughput, low-latency transactions. Integrate NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Azure CosmosDB for scalable data storage. Develop observability frameworks with ELK for monitoring API performance and security. Optimize MuleSoft worker configurations, clustering, autoscaling, and strategize for hybrid deployments. Implement MuleSoft High Availability clustering and load balancing. Enforce security policies and compliance controls on API gateways.
Process & People: Drive engineering best practices, enforce agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated testing. Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence. Leverage Gen AI tools for API development and workflow optimization. Collaborate with business, security, and infrastructure teams to align API strategies. Lead root cause analysis and incident resolution, ensuring proactive risk mitigation. Establish API governance frameworks for development, deployment, and versioning.
What you'll need: 10+ years in API development and integration, with deep MuleSoft expertise (CloudHub & On-Prem). Bachelor's degree in a related field. Strong knowledge of MuleSoft API security, authentication, and encryption for financial services. Experience with hybrid API deployments, including on-prem Mule runtimes, Anypoint Runtime Fabric, and CloudHub worker management. Proven ability to optimize vCore and manage high-performance transaction processing. Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka. Proficiency with observability tools like ELK, AppDynamics, and Grafana. Hands-on experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Azure CosmosDB) and relational databases. Solid background in Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated deployment. Leadership and mentorship skills, with a focus on team development. Familiarity with Gen AI tools for API automation.
