As a Software Development Engineer II on the Retail Integration Merchant Experience team within the Just Walk Out organization, you will be a pivotal contributor, driving high-quality work both independently and collaboratively. You will invent, design, and develop software that is both stable and high-performing using a range of technologies across frontend web applications and backend AWS services. Your expertise should include understanding when to apply various design patterns and technologies, and ensuring that the code you write remains maintainable and comprehensible to fellow engineers. Your responsibilities will also include: Creating software solutions that are efficient and flexible, avoiding over-engineering while considering cost and resource management. Participating in code reviews, design discussions, and project planning sessions to contribute to team growth and operational excellence. Identifying issues constructively and proposing effective solutions to enhance team performance. Mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on development, operation, and security practices. Supporting the recruitment process by helping to interview potential team members. About the Team: The Retail Platform team within the Physical Stores Organization focuses on integrating retail systems for third-party retailers utilizing Just Walk Out technology. This includes processing retail data ingestion, payments, compliance, and offering self-service tools to facilitate the adoption of Amazon's retail technology. Basic Qualifications: Over 2 years of experience in design or architecture, focusing on reliability and scalability of systems. More than 3 years of professional software development experience. Proficiency in at least one programming language. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, version control, and testing. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Location: This position is based in Los Angeles County.
