- We are searching for an experienced Mfg. Engineer at our Salt Lake City, UT facility.
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer supports production through the development ofroutings, drawings, assembly instructions, and process improvements. Thisincludes driving automation initiatives, managing capital equipment projects,and leading continuous improvement efforts. The role ensures a safe, efficient,and productive environment, and requires technical expertise, problem-solvingskills, and a focus on operational excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To successfully perform this job, anindividual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. - Design, implement, and maintain automation systems including robotics, PLCs, sensors, and vision systems.
- Support production teams through process improvement, troubleshooting, and technical guidance
- Support production team members with process improvements focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Lead or support manufacturing projects from concept through execution.
- Develop and document standardized work procedures and routings.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain on vendor quality and alignment.
- Transition new or revised designs from Engineering and R&D to production.
- Oversee maintenance systems to ensure equipment uptime.
- Develop and maintain training documentation.
- Implement corrective actions for warranty and quality issues.
- Lead or support ISO and other internal/external certification efforts.
- Promote continuous improvement using lean principles and root cause analysis.
- Track KPIs and leverage visual management systems to support data-driven decisions.
- Provide cost analysis and forecasting by reviewing schedules and estimating future requirements.
- Design and develop new products, processes, and mock-ups as needed.
- Support standardization of design criteria across product lines.
- Conduct cost reduction, quality improvement, and process efficiency analyses.
- Represent manufacturing in cross-functional team environments.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Safety Requirements: - Comply with the company safety policies and requirements.
- Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
- Attend scheduled safety training.
- Actively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed safety goals and plans.
- Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Ensures that all fall protection procedures are strictly adhered to including but not limited to the use of harness, platform ladders, railing, lifts.
- Adheres to and ensures lockout/tagout LO/TO procedures are followed any time the equipment is cleaned or maintained.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering required, with a minimum of four to six years related experience and/or
- training. Continuing education as required staying abreast of new developments area of expertise.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD, and ERP systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and waste elimination.
- Working knowledge of ISO standards and audit readiness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under minimal supervision
- Apply mathematical operations to theoretical and practical manufacturing and industrial situations.
- Must have the ability to define manufacturing problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- English speaking. Read, analyze, and interpret common industrial, manufacturing and technical procedures, professional journals, schematics, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints. Write reports, business correspondence, assembly instructions and procedural manuals. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or other members of the manufacturing community.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions - Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for 8+ hours per day.
- Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to manufacturing environment, including mechanical equipment, temperature fluctuations, and
- airborne particles.
- Must wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes) when on the production floor.
Use of computers, forklifts, hand tools, and measuring equipment as needed.
