Job Summary Responsible for ordering components tracking inventory and soldering cables PCB boards and sensors. Install wearable robotics hardware in lab facilities. Debug hardware failures adjust mechanical components recalibrate sensors swap parts when necessary manage hardware or software upgrades and coordinate with Research Assistants RAs for support. Responsibilities Responsible for ordering components tracking inventory and soldering cables PCB boards and sensors. Install wearable robotics hardware in lab facilities. Debug hardware failures adjust mechanical components recalibrate sensors swap parts when necessary manage hardware or software upgrades and coordinate with Research Assistants RAs for support. Oversee study rollout and manually inspect data quality in new rigs. Be on call for hardware issues reported by RAs. Support device upgrades and new wearable hardware rollouts in lab facilities. Conduct CAD modeling and order prototypes through internal or external vendors. Experience with Design for Manufacturing Assembly and rapid prototyping using 3D printing CNC machining etc. Debug signal quality issues for wearable devices and ground truth during study rollouts. Develop and refine mechanical systems for robotics and wearable applications focusing on durability and user comfort. Apply CV techniques especially for finger tracking to enhance wearable device functionality.
Qualifications Bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering ideally with a background in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Robotics or Mechanical Engineering related fields. Strong knowledge of hardware construction installation data collection data analysis debugging and testing. Experience with scripting languages with a preference for Python. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and foster effective cooperation. Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive problem solving attitude. Skills Required Mechanical Design CAD Proficiency Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar platforms. Experience with soldering cables PCB boards is crucial. Experience with Arduino and microcontroller programming Experience with Design for Manufacturing Assembly and rapid prototyping using 3D printing CNC machining etc. Proficiency with Python and Object-Oriented Programming as well as data analysis and plotting with Jupyter notebooks. Scientific mindset and experience with Design of Experiments. Experience with CV Computer Vision and Image Processing techniques especially finger tracking. Robotics hardware debugging skills. Experience with CLI and terminal commands.
