Mechanical Design Engineer **SIGN ON BONUS** As a Engineer you will work with multiple teams within the Engineering Group to provide products to advanced power plant designs including Small Modular Reactors and Generation IV nuclear power plants, as well as existing power plants with decades of experience, in both domestic and international markets. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks including supporting the engineering department to develop technical solutions for emerging problems.  You will do this for our existing products as well as new product development. The position involves working with valves, actuators, and similar mechanical equipment and structures utilized in nuclear power plants.
Location: Brea, CA
Salary : $ 104,800 – $130,000 Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in California. Your Challenge: Design parts and assemblies for various product lines (e.g. valves, hydraulic assemblies, and actuators)
Create schematic, and assembly drawings using Solidworks or AutoCAD
Generate manufacturing drawings for parts and determine manufacturing processes and specify tolerancing requirements
Develop engineering solutions and proposal documentation for RFQs and RFIs
Collaborate with the analysis team on parts or assemblies that require FEA or CFD
Communicate with customers on project and design related challenges
Required travel time is less than 5%
What You Bring: 15+ years of Mechanical Design experience.
Knowledge and experience in industrial and machine design
Lead roles in product development and put into practice various engineering processes listed below.
Understanding of different manufacturing processes: casting, machining, grinding, lapping, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication etc.
Proficiency in CAD modeling using SolidWorks
Proficiency in GD&T and related standards for drawing creation
Proficiency in engineering processes (e.g. DFMA, DMAIC, FMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc.)
Proficiency in AutoCAD for layout and schematics is a plus
Familiarity with nuclear industry standards (ASME, ANSI, API, IEEE etc.) is a plus
Familiarity with industrial hydraulics and electrical equipment is a plus
