Mechanical Design Engineer (GD&T)
3 Days Old
Corvid's Science & Technology (S&T) team develops advanced munitions and technologies for DoD customers. This team is looking to add an engineer to focus on developing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings with fully defined GD&T in accordance with ASM 14.5 Standards. The position will work across multiple projects and programs. Candidate should be comfortable interacting with research team as well as the production staff to ensure data packages are accurate and up to date, allowing for a seamless transition from Prototyping to LRP to full production.
Tasking will include:
Apply and interpret functional GD&T to ensure proper fit, form, and function of complex mechanical components and assemblies
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams - including manufacturing, quality, and procurement - to define and validate dimensional requirements
Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and assist in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews
Maintain revision control and drawing accuracy using configuration management
Interface with metrology teams to ensure inspection strategies align with drawing intent
Requirements:
Candidate must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineer (or similar) and at least 4 years of relevant experience
Expert level proficiency in at least one major CAD platform is required (SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, or CATIA)
Thorough understanding of ASME Y14.5-2018 (or 2009) GD&T Standards is required, preferred candidate will have DGTP Certification
Demonstrated experience creating manufacturable, tolerance-driven mechanical designs and familiarity with related machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
Preferred candidate will have experience with aerospace, defense, automotive or medical device products
Familiarity with CMM inspection methods, metrology software, and drawing interpretation for QA tasks is a plus
Why Corvid?
Founded in 2004, we are a group of over 300 engineers and scientists, about three-quarters of whom hold master's degrees or PhDs, that provide end-to-end solutions, including concept development, design and optimization, prototype build, test, and manufacture. We leverage the predictive capabilities of our high-fidelity computational physics solvers, indigenous massively parallel supercomputer system, prototyping plant, and ballistics and mechanics lab to investigate a variety of high-rate physics phenomena.
The results are complex engineering solutions for a range of applications: aircraft, ballistic missile defense, cybersecurity, motorsports, armor development, biological systems, and missile and warhead design and development. These results are achieved with optimal design and cost efficiency due to the predictive capability of Corvid's tools and our in-house, end-to-end integrated approach, which differentiates Corvid from the market.
