About the role

The Mechanical Building Engineer/Project Coordinator is responsible for monitoring complex building system operations and the performance of various mechanical areas including plumbing, heating, and cooling. The Building Engineer/Project Coordinator supports the CBRE/Turner & Townsend Project Managers to successfully and safely deliver capital projects to our life sciences client in Indianapolis, IN.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems including LOTO procedures. The role is hourly and requires an onsite presence in Indianapolis for overtime and some weekends.

What you'll do

Issue, monitor, and control CBRE and client specific work order permits which ensure daily work initiatives are delivered in a manner aligned with all local policies and procedures.

Ensure all projects are carried out in a manner consistent with our CBRE Zero Incident safety culture

Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.

Work closely with the project team and client representatives, including client fire marshal, to ensure project material is properly stowed in acceptable laydown areas. Follow Facility Protection Plan to minimize impact of construction activities within occupied areas of a building.

Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.

Maintain working relationships with external consultants and vendors while holding them accountable for delivering their scope of work in a timely and consistent fashion.

Provide regular updates and formal reports to the Project Coordinator Team Lead as it relates to hours worked, number of permits issued, and safety events for your projects.
