System Engineer SME Onsite (Huntsville, AL)
An organization is seeking a System Engineer SME (Subject Matter Expert) to support the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. This is an onsite role in Huntsville, AL.
The C2BMC program integrates the Missile Defense System and enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to plan ballistic missile defense operations. It provides a collective operational picture and allows dynamic management of networked sensors and weapons systems. The program also plays a critical role in system ground and flight tests, verifying current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The System Engineer SME must have the expertise and leadership to ensure a disciplined systems engineering approach is applied to defining, developing, and analyzing system capabilities. This role involves using systems engineering tools and documentation to propose changes to user concepts of operations (CONOPS), operational concepts, and system and interface requirements in support of future BMDS capabilities, including sensor management, tasking, cueing, and discrimination architectures. It will also require coordinating multiple engineering disciplines to resolve system-level issues.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:Apply systems engineering principles to develop and refine product solutions.
Lead and mentor complex, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Analyze high-level needs and refine them into an integrated set of requirements that can be implemented in a fielded product.
Draft and execute engineering plans within a project.
Lead and perform portions of work while directing activities of other systems engineers.
Current/active in-scope DoD issued SECRET security clearance.
12 years of related experience with a Bachelors Degree in a STEM discipline,
OR 10 years with a Masters degree,
OR 8 years with a PhD,
OR 20 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.Proven experience developing systems engineering artifacts:

System Architecture Descriptions
Trade Studies
Skills in:
Engineering leadership
Identifying and defining desired capabilities
Fielding new capabilities
System-of-systems integration practices
Communicating capabilities effectively to developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
Experience in Ballistic Missile Defense.
Familiarity with C2BMC concepts.
Ability to work with multiple customer and contractor organizations.
Experience with systems engineering tools for requirements management (e.g., DOORS).
Experience working in integrated team environments with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.
A Masters Degree in Systems Engineering.
Graduate Certificate in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) from institutions such as Stevens, Caltech, UCSD, USC, GWU, or INCOSE cohort programs.
INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification.
Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP MBI) Certification.
Experience using MDNT processes and methods.
