As a Project Leader Engineer, you will provide ownership of the Coat & Dry / Laser Ablation process and provide engineering support as required by the production schedule. You will troubleshoot process issues, lead/contribute to process improvement/characterization projects, train maintenance and production personnel, conduct pilot and validation activities following Roche Diabetes Care, Inc. policies and procedure. You will ensure the validated state of the production process/equipment is maintained. You will provide expertise in engineering, design and process and/or scale-up, develop and recommend new process ideas and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality, and establish operating equipment specifications and improve manufacturing techniques. You will apply engineering principles in a broad range of technical assignments, making independent decisions based on sound reasoning and analysis, interfacing with various departments to ensure processes and designs are compatible for new product technology transfer and to establish future process and equipment automation technology. You will demonstrate a higher level thought process and holistic approach, often participating in the development of new processes or technologies by monitoring industry trends and moving them through proof of concept and feasibility.

The Opportunity

  1. Provide leadership and strategic planning for the assigned processes
  2. Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, procedures and processes in the manufacture of products, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
  3. Develops mechanical and electromechanical processes by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators and maintenance technicians.
  4. Interfaces with design and process development engineering in coordinating the release of new products to the manufacturing process.
  5. Helps to estimate manufacturing cost and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing lines.
  6. Manages multiple projects and time scopes for each project
  7. Ensures process changes are characterized and implements following validation policies and procedures
  8. Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  9. Assists department leadership in setting strategic direction
  10. Possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the field
  11. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  12. Provide guidance and advice to lower level staff
  13. Participates in the on call rotation to provide off shift / weekend support to production, as needed

Knowledge/Skills/Attributes

  • Seasoned, experienced, professional with a full understanding of areas of specialization

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related discipline with 5 years relevant experience or Master's of Engineering/PhD with 2 years relevant experience
  • 6 years of progressive work experience in an appropriate engineering discipline; work in pursuit of an advanced technical degree may be considered
  • Participates in the on call rotation to provide off shift / weekend support to production, as needed

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Autocad a plus
  • Previous training or experience in Process Improvement Methodologies (e.g. LSS, PDCA, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Strong ability to teach and educate key stakeholders and other colleagues
  • Deep commitment to cross-functional collaboration and breaking down silos to achieve the best results for the organization

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $100,700 - $186,900. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
