Job Purpose / Objectives Design, integrate, or improve manufacturing systems or related processes. May work with commercial or industrial designers to refine product designs to increase producibility and decrease costs. Increase Company Revenue by Adding new SKUs ($) Move SKUs from Development to Production in a timely manner (time to Production) Cost/Revenue Ratio per SKU / ROI ($ and/or %) Duties and responsibilities Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency. Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and/or tooling. Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts. Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements. Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods. Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs. Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards. Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations. Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks. Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures. Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness. Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance. Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing. Train production personnel in new or existing methods. Qualifications BS Mechanical Engineering (preferred) 3D CAD - SolidWorks (preferred) Measuring equipment ISO Basics Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Systems Analysis -- Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Systems Evaluation -- Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system. Time Management -- Managing one's own time and the time of others. Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Active Learning -- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Monitoring -- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Troubleshooting -- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. Quality Control Analysis -- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Equipment Selection -- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Operations Analysis -- Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design. Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships -- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time. Proficient use of SolidWorks, SolidWorks Composer, MS Excel, MS Word. Familiarity working within a Quality Management System (ISO preferred). Working conditions The job is performed at our facility at 14062 Riverport Dr. in a climate controlled non-smoking environment. Physical requirements The job requires possible standing for extended lengths of time and the ability to lift 25 lbs. Direct reports None
