Job Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Production team. The Manufacturing Engineer supports the resolution of production issues and provides engineering support to implement new products and processes into production. The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for supporting existing products through the manufacturing process.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze process design functions to determine product flow through the manufacturing department by use of current engineering and continuous improvement techniques.
Research suitable alternative electronic components for obsolete materials.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and develop solutions consistent with manufacturing’s capabilities and equipment.
Analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout to maximize manufacturing efficiency.
Own, prepare, and maintain process documentation and methods for manufacturing as technologies and equipment change.
Apply value engineering techniques to reduce manufacturing costs of existing products.
Assess the overall manufacturability of new designs in terms of manufacturing efficiency and cost effectiveness. Provides input to make/buy decision based on costs, quality, and capacity.
Provides alternative manufacturing or design options that ensure intended performance, quality, schedule and cost requirements, while allowing lead times to be met.
Provides support to internal groups and external suppliers in resolving quality, productivity, and routine technical issues related to new and existing products during all phases of the product life cycle.
Assesses the need for capital equipment, tooling, and manages the associated procurement and implementation.
Represents the manufacturing function on product and project development teams.
Assists with qualification of new suppliers and components by determining and establishing requirements, in conjunction with other internal groups.
Assess sources for raw material into the manufacturing process and determine alternate sources for single source situations.
Liaise between Manufacturing and Engineering when documented designed data requires modification.
Drive continuous process improvements through identification monitoring of metrics and the strict adherence to processes identified by Howell AS9100 standards.
Perform additional duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 to 8 years in an aerospace electronic equipment manufacturing or production environment.
Broad technical background in electronics, mechanical systems, and ability to integrate them into the manufacturing process.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions to assist in troubleshooting the manufacturing process.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
Ability to multi-task on production related issues.
Ability to help/teach/coach manufacturing personnel on current and improved processes.
