Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer – Supplier Development is responsible for improving supplier capability, quality, and performance across HOLT Manufacturing’s supply base. This role acts as the technical liaison between internal engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams and external suppliers. The engineer evaluates supplier processes, supports qualification of new suppliers, and drives corrective actions and process improvements to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met. This position plays a key role in scaling manufacturing operations by improving supplier readiness, reducing risk, and developing long-term technical capability among strategic suppliers. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS) Model, promote, reinforce, and recognize the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Collaborates with the Buyer and Corporate Procurement to evaluate, approve, and onboard new suppliers, ensuring alignment with technical and business requirements Partners with Purchasing, Quality, and the Buyer to drive supplier corrective action plans, monitor progress, and ensure closure of quality or delivery issues Evaluates and develop suppliers' manufacturing capabilities, process controls, and quality systems Supports sourcing decisions by participating in supplier selection and onboarding activities Collaborates with Corporate Procurement and Quality to define supplier qualification and approval criteria Leads supplier process audits, PPAP submissions, and initial sample inspection reviews Drives root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier nonconformance's or delivery issues Provides on-site support at supplier facilities during ramp-up, troubleshooting, or improvement initiatives Implements technical training and continuous improvement activities with suppliers to reduce variation and increase throughput Tracks supplier performance metrics and support ongoing scorecard reviews Collaborates with Engineering and Production to ensure design for manufacturability (DfM) and material specs are clearly understood by suppliers Leads projects to transition components to more capable or cost-effective suppliers when needed Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Performs other duties assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, sheet metal, coatings, or assembly Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed to support performance and development initiatives Excellent communication skills and ability to lead discussions with technical and supplier teams Proficiency with engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and similar data analysis tools Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently Great attention to detail and solid prioritization skills Ability to identify problems and generate solutions Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, and in writing
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Three or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or quality engineering required Prior experience with supplier audits, APQP, PPAP, and corrective action methods (8D, 5 Whys, etc.) required
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Travel: Up to 25% travel to supplier locations or between facilities may be required Valid driver’s license required

Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment: This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
