This role will focus on improving machining, assembly, and fabrication methods, ensuring processes meet product specifications, and supporting production teams with technical expertise.The Manufacturing Engineer 3 will work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to moderately complex projects while partnering with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing performance.Essential FunctionsSafety & ComplianceResponsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety (EHS) principles, policies, and procedures.Ensure all manufacturing processes and improvements align with safety and regulatory requirements.Manufacturing Process Development & OptimizationProvide engineering support for:Machining & Fabrication ProcessesAssembly & Tooling DevelopmentWorkflow & Layout OptimizationProcess Documentation & StandardizationPlan, design, and refine manufacturing processes for production facilities with a focus on efficiency, safety, and quality.Analyze machining, fabrication, assembly, and related processes to improve workflow, equipment layout, and assembly methods.Determine necessary parts, tools, equipment, and processes to achieve manufacturing goals in alignment with product specifications.Conduct time and cost analyses to identify improvement opportunities.Research, design, develop, test, and enhance manufacturing processes through product and equipment studies.Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, collaborating with equipment vendors as needed.Process Control & Quality AssuranceConduct process and work instruction audits, engaging operators for feedback and improvement opportunities.Assure product and process quality by:Designing and implementing testing methodsTesting finished products and evaluating process capabilitiesEstablishing standards and confirming compliancePartner with Quality to maintain and enhance manufacturing process capability.Performance Analysis & ReportingProvide manufacturing decision-making information by:Calculating production, labor, and material costsReviewing production schedules and estimating future requirementsMaintain product and process files in company databases.Equipment & Maintenance CoordinationKeep equipment operational by:Coordinating maintenance and repair servicesFollowing manufacturer’s instructions and established proceduresRequesting special services where necessaryLeadership, Training & MentorshipGuide machinists, programmers, and operators on design and development projects.Contribute technical input to moderately complex projects while supporting collaborative problem-solving.Continuous Improvement & Enterprise ContributionLead and participate in initiatives to improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.Drive Lean and Kaizen activities to optimize processes, workflows, and equipment utilization.Contribute to the Daniel Defense Business Excellence culture by engaging in cross-functional problem-solving and process standardization.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.4–7 years of manufacturing experience in a metalworking environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training to perform the essential functions of the job.Contributes to moderately complex aspects of projects and works both independently and collaboratively.Technical & Leadership StrengthsExperience in GD&T, SolidWorks, CNC programming, Mastercam, or similar manufacturing software.Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.Experience addressing manufacturing challenges and communicating effectively with leadership, supervision, and shop employees.Personal AttributesHigh degree of initiative, urgency, and accountability.Strong communicator and collaborative team member.Committed to Daniel Defense’s mission, core values, and Permission to Play Values.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the workday.Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, and lights/lasers.Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and/or company policy.Daniel Defense is an EOE AA M/F/Vet/Disability employer and promotes a Drug-Free Workplace.Note: The statements above describe the general nature and level of work being performed by those assigned to this job.
