Roles and Responsibilities

Hardware

  • Simulate and design an overall Power Electronics system for Industrial application such as Marine Propulsion, Oil and Gas, Metals rolling mills, and Power generation applications
  • Specify electrical components (Cables, Filters, Inductors, Capacitors, Transformers, Converters ) of the overall electrical power plant
  • Write all project artifacts including Hardware and commissioning instructions
  • Design new Voltage Source Inverter (IGBT or Sic) and new Thyristor converter (Rectifier LCI)
  • Support the Drive Test and Validation

Software

  • Develop Offline and Real Time Electrical System Simulation for the Design of a Power Electronics system for Marine, Oil and Gas, Industry applications
  • Write specifications for Power Electronic Controller and commissioning test mode instructions
  • Develop the Drive/Converter Software and HMI, validate, and test on a test bench or on a HIL Real Time platform
  • Develop Technical Engineering tools for the project team
  • Support the project team and Drive Commissioning
  • Support the Drive Validation and Commissioning

Required Qualifications

  • PhD with a minimum of 2 years experience in Power Electronics
  • Or Master degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in Power Electronics
  • Or Bachelor degree with a minimum of 7 years experience in Medium and High Voltage Power Electronics Converters

Desired Characteristics

  • Understand physical phenomena; strong theoretical and mathematical background; with the ability to understand new concepts and ability to communicate information clearly
  • Experience in Middle Voltage and High Voltage applications
  • Willingness to travel when needed
  • Autonomous, curious with the ability to understand new concepts, coach other engineers, and integrate into a team
  • Creative, passionate and integrate into a team
  • Experience on MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives and Cycloconverter
  • Experience on Variable Speed application, STATCOM, or active filtering
