Description
Duties / Responsibilities: Manage and maintain all aspects of the headend systems, including satellite downlinks, encoders, modulators, and related video/audio/data transmission equipment.
Lead the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of digital and analog video equipment.
Oversee preventive maintenance programs and ensure all systems are operating within optimal parameters.
Coordinate upgrades, migrations, and expansions within the headend environment to support new services and technologies.
Serve as a subject matter expert on video compression standards, RF signal levels, fiber optics, and IP delivery systems.
Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and internal policies related to video delivery infrastructure.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior headend engineers and technicians.
Mentor junior analysts and assist in skills development. Create and maintain detailed documentation including diagrams, configuration records, and system performance reports.
Work closely with NOC, Field Operations, and Engineering teams to resolve service-impacting issues.
Manage headend inventory and coordinate equipment procurement with vendors and procurement teams.
Participate in the development of disaster recovery and redundancy strategies for headend operations.
Serve as an escalation point for headend-related incidents and participate in on-call rotation. Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field
5+ years of experience in headend operations or broadcast engineering
Experience with RF systems, digital video processing, and fiber infrastructure
Familiarity with EAS, EPG, PSIP, and related video service protocols
Knowledge of FCC regulations and compliance requirements
