As a Lead Systems Verification & Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for demonstrating and ensuring that our robot is safe, robust, performant, and meets market and customer needs. You will own the verification and validation of requirements for an autonomous last-mile delivery robot, from building high-level test plans to defining specific test cases and execution strategies. You will collaborate across many teams to define and orchestrate testing and evaluation of this complex system by translating high-level product goals and system requirements into actionable testing strategies. Responsibilities Lead interdisciplinary teams to define verification & validation plans that ensure all autonomy requirements are satisfied and the delivery of a safe and responsible autonomous robot Develop novel strategies and methods to verify and validate the autonomy features of an autonomous sidewalk delivery robot, utilizing analysis, simulation, HIL testing, and vehicle testing Create detailed simulations and structured test plans and procedures Coordinate the technical and logistical planning of vehicle tests with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, and autonomy groups Analyze test data, report results, and develop automated tools for data extraction and analysis Troubleshoot and debug issues related to autonomous behavior, tracing failures to subsystems or software stacks Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results Support the generation of autonomous vehicle requirements to ensure they are implementable and verifiable Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or related engineering field 8+ years of experience in systems integration and testing of complex electromechanical and autonomous robotic systems Experience with verification and validation testing of autonomous/non-autonomous robots at system level, including closed course testing, HIL, and simulation Proficiency in test scripting and data analysis languages such as Python and SQL Experience testing ROS or other DDS-based robotic systems Strong understanding of autonomous vehicle software stacks is highly preferred Experience translating high-level AV behaviors into testable requirements is preferred Hands-on approach to testing and debugging electromechanical systems Excellent communication skills for audiences ranging from technicians to senior executives Preferred Qualifications M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or related engineering fields Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, especially verification & validation methods Proven experience developing tools and metrics to analyze robotic performance and behavior Experience in industries such as autonomous vehicles, medical robotics, aerospace, or automated systems
