Job Description This is a senior engineering role for someone who enjoys both writing code and leading a team. As Head of Engineering, you’ll drive architecture decisions, shape technical strategy, and help bring a new product to life from the earliest stages. You’ll be instrumental in building out the engineering function and setting up the infrastructure, systems, and practices required for long-term growth and stability. Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership Set the technical direction for a greenfield SaaS platform built for scale and security Lead system design across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and AI tooling Define architecture for a multi-tenant product that serves a range of customer types Ensure high standards in code quality, data protection, and cloud infrastructure Hands-On Development Write production code in Python and build client-facing interfaces in React Design and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data layers Implement and manage AWS cloud environments including container orchestration (EKS) Work with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools to support core product features Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, with the remit to grow as needed Collaborate closely with product and design teams on feature delivery Translate complex regulatory or financial requirements into robust technical solutions Drive adoption of best practices in testing, deployment, and system reliability Requirements Technical Skills 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity Proficient with AWS services and infrastructure automation, especially Kubernetes via EKS Skilled in designing APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) Experience building or maintaining enterprise-grade applications with multi-tenant architecture AI & Infrastructure Exposure to deploying or working with self-hosted AI/LLM models Familiarity with document parsing, NLP, and integrating AI into product flows Strong grasp of data privacy, security standards, and SOC 2 compliance practices Leadership Comfortable building and leading small teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments Previous experience at an early-stage company or within a scale-up preferred Able to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes Strong communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego approach Other Competitive salary with meaningful equity Key leadership position with ownership of technical direction Opportunity to build a product with significant real-world impact Hybrid working model - candidates must be based in Denver Modern tech stack and a supportive, agile team culture Looking to shape a platform from the ground up?
