Lead Electrical Engineer - Power Generation
This is a full-time Lead Electrical Engineer opportunity focused on conventional power generation projects. The role involves leading technical efforts across engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environments and mentoring project teams in the development of high-quality electrical engineering deliverables.
What You'll Do Provide leadership and technical guidance on conventional power generation projects Develop and review electrical deliverables, including: One-line and three-line diagrams Motor schematics, breaker/control schematics, wiring diagrams Power cable sizing and schedules Engineering calculations: load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash analysis, relay settings, battery/charger sizing Create specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for equipment procurement Create and manage man-hour budgets and project schedules Attend site meetings, assess existing conditions, interface with clients, and support construction efforts Use Microsoft Office, engineering design tools (ETAP, SKM), and drafting tools (AutoCAD, ProjectWise) Preferred Qualifications Active Professional Engineer (PE) License Experience in utility-scale conventional power generation (e.g., combined cycle, simple cycle) Engineering consulting design experience in LV/MV systems QA/QC and project leadership experience Proficiency with NEC, IEEE, ANSI standards Familiarity with: MV/LV switchgear, transformers (GSU, UAT), relays, inverters, batteries, surge arrestors MV/LV/control/fiber optic cable systems Strong communication, team leadership, and organizational skills Ability to manage budget, schedules, and engineering deliverables Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Minimum 5 years of related experience Must meet pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.) Key Competencies Independent application of engineering codes and standards Quality assurance and continuous improvement Complex engineering design and calculations Coordination with multidisciplinary teams Client-focused mindset and ability to identify key drivers Leadership in innovation, knowledge sharing, and team mentorship
