Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under general direction, the Lead Building Engineer supervises and directs employees in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and allied equipment; plans and schedules work projects; administers various service contracts; and provides technical assistance to the Chief Building Engineer.

This position has second-line supervisory responsibilities receives direction from the Chief Building Engineer and gives direction to our Building Engineer Field technicians. This role is characterized by a combination of supervisory and building maintenance experience. The nature of the work supervised is such that little direct supervision is needed. After receiving information on desired results, the employee is expected to apply the requisite skills including the selection of appropriate work methods. The Building Operations Supervisor ensures that project deadlines are met and completed projects conform to initial plans and work quality standards. The planning and scheduling of major projects are done in conjunction with the employee's immediate supervisor. The employee handles selected phases of the work projects with selection based on the possession of requisite skills, staff availability, or a need to meet established completion dates.
