As a Geotechnical Engineer in our Portland, Oregon office , you’ll join a dynamic team of nearly 150 geotechnical professionals across 15+ offices in North America, supporting a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do : You’ll work on projects from concept through construction—across both design-bid-build and design-build delivery models. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll share technical insights across geographic boundaries and contribute to innovative solutions for projects ranging from local builds to global infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
Participating in field assignments soil and rock borings, CPT soundings, geophysical testing, instrumentation installation, and construction inspections
Analyzing field logs and lab data to support geotechnical design decisions
Designing shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, embankments, cut slopes, and more
Performing seismic hazard analyses, including site-response studies and liquefaction evaluations
Preparing calculation packages and technical documentation (memos, reports, specifications)
Using advanced software tools such as Settle3D, Slide, LPILE, DeepXcav, FLAC, PLAXIS, and MathCAD for engineering analysis
Reviewing construction submittals for compliance with design assumptions and contract requirements
Requirements :
1–5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering
BS in Civil Engineering and MS/PhD with a geotechnical or geological emphasis
Strong academic foundation in soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles
Ideally, you'll also have:
Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software
Experience in site characterization, deep foundation and retaining structure design, and seismic evaluations

The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $108,100.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
