Position Overview The Homologation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that vehicles, components, and systems comply with regulatory standards and certification requirements across different markets and jurisdictions. This role involves coordinating testing, documentation, and approval processes to enable legal sale and operation of automotive products worldwide. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Certification Analyze and interpret international automotive regulations (ECE, FMVSS, ADR, EPA, etc.) Develop compliance strategies for vehicle homologation in target markets. Coordinate with regulatory authorities and certification bodies. Manage homologation documentation and submission processes. Testing & Validation Plan and oversee compliance testing programs (emissions, safety, performance) Coordinate with testing laboratories and certification facilities. Review test results and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Manage type approval processes for vehicles and components. Technical Documentation Prepare and maintain technical files. Create compliance reports and certification documentation. Develop homologation matrices for different markets. Maintain regulatory databases and tracking systems. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with R&D teams during product development phases. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and legal departments. Interface with suppliers regarding component certifications. Support sales and marketing teams with regulatory information. Project Management Manage homologation timelines and milestones. Coordinate multiple certification projects simultaneously. Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on products. Ensure cost-effective compliance strategies. Work Environment Office-based with frequent travel to testing facilities Collaboration with international teams across different time zones Regular interaction with external certification bodies Occasional visits to manufacturing facilities (Note: These tasks are not intended to be all-inclusive. Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Advanced degree preferred Experience 3-5 years of experience in automotive engineering or regulatory affairs Experience with vehicle testing and certification processes Knowledge of international automotive regulations Background in automotive manufacturing or testing facilities preferred Technical Skills Strong understanding of automotive systems (powertrain, chassis, electronics) Familiarity with testing standards and procedures Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (UNECE, SAE, ISO standards) Experience with compliance management software Preferred Qualifications Professional certification in automotive engineering (ASE, SAE) Experience with electric vehicle regulations and standards Knowledge of multiple languages for international markets Previous experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment
Additional Information
Job Functions: Must be able to work in an office environment and frequently use hands for typing, filing, and scanning. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
