Job Title: Home Experience Engineer Department: Operations Reports To: Home Experience Engineer Manager
Job Summary The Home Experience Engineer will lead the technical execution of luxury smart home projects with a focus on programming, networking, and integrated system performance. This role ensures the seamless convergence of AV, lighting, climate, security, and control systems—translating project designs into flawlessly functioning living experiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Partners with project managers, field technicians, designers, and client support teams to ensure technology systems are implemented according to design intent and operational excellence.
Acts as the technical bridge between engineering, programming, and field teams—supporting clear documentation, handoffs, and teamwork throughout the project lifecycle.
Communicates confidently with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure network and system goals are understood and met.
Takes ownership of system programming (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant) and network configuration (e.g., VLAN setup, firewall policies, bandwidth management) across assigned projects.
Ensures that all control systems and networking infrastructure are delivered on time, fully tested, and aligned with performance and security standards.
Maintains accurate documentation of network topology, IP schemes, device assignments, and system logic for long-term serviceability.
Identifies potential technical issues or compatibility challenges early in the project timeline and offer strategic solutions.
Ensures firmware, software, and hardware are updated, integrated, and tested prior to deployment.
Monitors performance metrics and proactively resolve connectivity or system behavior issues before client handover.
Explores new programming techniques or tools to streamline implementation and future-proof designs.
Champions clean code, secure network practices, and robust performance that exceeds expectations.
Designs custom programming logic, scenes, and automation workflows that bring a personalized, luxury touch to each project.
Develops innovative ways to optimize user interface layouts and user experience within touchscreens, mobile apps, or control panels.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
3 + years of experience in smart home integration, AV programming, or network engineering
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in residential automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron)
Strong networking knowledge, including DHCP, static IPs, port forwarding, VLANs, and Wi-Fi system configuration (Cisco, Araknis, Ubiquiti, or similar)
Ability to interpret and implement control system schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
Familiarity with RMM tools, remote diagnostics, and system monitoring platforms
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Crestron Programmer, or Control4 Tech II are a plus
Occasional travel to job sites
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting and working in tight spaces or at heights
Ability to lift to 15 pounds as needed
