POSITION SUMMARY: The Healthcare Imaging Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of medical imaging equipment, ensuring that all devices operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards. This role works closely with radiology, cardiology, and other clinical departments to minimize downtime, enhance patient care, and optimize imaging system performance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, configure, and test medical imaging systems (e.g., MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, PET, Nuclear Medicine, PACS). Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, hospital policies, and applicable regulations (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA, state). Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, coordinate with vendors and service providers when necessary. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment histories in the CMMS. Support imaging-related software, networks, and integration with hospital IT systems. Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols, electrical safety standards, and infection control policies. Provide technical guidance and training clinical staff on proper use and care of imaging equipment. Participate in capital equipment planning, procurement evaluations, and acceptance testing of new systems. Stay current on emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and manufacturer updates. Assist in on-call coverage and emergency response for imaging equipment failures. Occasional after-hours or weekend work for urgent repairs and preventive maintenance. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with clinical and technical staff. Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field (or equivalent military or technical training). Minimum 3-5 years' experience servicing complex imaging systems in a healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of diagnostic imaging modalities and associated technologies. Familiarity with DICOM standards, PACS/RIS integration, and networking principles. Manufacturer certifications (e.g., GE, Siemens, Philips, Canon) preferred.
Must clear background and drug test required.
