Hardware Engineer Production Support

Support multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generation products. Your responsibilities will include: becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, leading efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, leading qualification efforts for component changes including updating schematics and design information, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, implementing board level design changes through schematics, CAD support, and board checkout.
The day-to-day
- Hands on experience troubleshooting of complex digital systems (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers)
- Identify and qualify replacements for obsolete parts
- Schematic/CAD updates relating to results and parts changes (Mentor Graphics flow preferred)
- Produce redlines and release documentation changes affecting product changes
- Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
- Knowledge and use of scripting languages, e.g. PERL, PYTHON a plus
- Work closely with engineering technicians to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problem
- Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problems
- Integrate and debug design in the laboratory
- Interfacing with suppliers to identify and resolve production issues
What you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 3-5 years hardware design or sustaining experience
- US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required
- Foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations
- Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have a history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
- Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
- Familiarity with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
- Familiarity with production related processes and common failure modes
- High aptitude for learning new things
- Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
- Ability to travel up to 10%
What will help you on the job
- Master's Degree Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Familiarity with TCL, Perl, Python or another scripting language
- Experience with high speed interfaces like Ethernet, SERDES, DDR2/3/4, LVDS
- Experience in debugging, diagnosing, and solving embedded designs issues
- Understanding of embedded processor software and peripheral interfacing to PL/HW
- Experience and familiarity with Linux-based development environments
