12 month contract with likely extensions.
Responsibilities: Setting up and maintaining data collection SW and HW, including OS/firmware updates and connection to sensor components. Basic SW (mostly C++) debugging, understanding different kinds of error analysis, and communicating with other Research Engineers and Scientists. Consumer devices HW bring-up and functionalities verification. Designing and executing experiments to validate product quality and investigate HW/SW issues. Designing and commissioning automation procedures for robotics experiments. Performing devices calibration with proprietary equipment. Commissioning and operating complex measurement and test equipment. Documentation of various processes and techniques with help from the core team. Tool, part, and system design across a wide variety of industries and product types. Engineering analysis (Thermal, Dynamic, Stress) in support of project goals. Documentation of designs and design intent, with appropriate tolerance and specification. Creation of 3D CAD and 2D drawings using Siemens NX and SolidWorks. Experience designing assembly aids and fixtures to meet design intent. Experience designing for 3D printing in a fast-paced prototyping space. Meeting required Quality System Documentation and Process requirements. Developing test plans, executing testing, and reporting results. Qualifications (Must have) Education & Foundational Skills: BSc or MSc degree in Engineering or Physics and/or apprenticeship in electronics or related field. Familiarity with C/C++, basic statistics, error analysis, and Linux systems. Scripting/configuration editing. Laboratory & Hardware Experience: Experience with laboratory work and ideally experimental hardware. Familiarity with test design, planning, and execution, including accelerated test methods. Mechanical Design & Manufacturing: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required. Significant experience in 3D and 2D CAD systems (Siemens NX preferred). Experience with overmolding methodologies and tool design. Experience with a wide range of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, injection molding, etc.). System Analysis & Documentation: Experience performing mechanical system analysis, design margin analysis, and designing custom tools for assembly, testing, or characterizing electromechanical systems. Creating clear written technical documentation. Reliability engineering, FMEA, product performance testing, and test results reporting experience (DOE). Experience working in a product design/manufacturing environment. Qualifications (preferred) Software development experience in C++, Python and/or Bash Troubleshooting driver problems on Linux Robot control or mechatronics experience. In particular: Controlling linear motion stages Controlling hexapod positioners Controlling robot arms Knowledge about camera optics and acquisition settings Experience with VR or AR systems Data analysis and visualization Suggestions for sourcing Universities of applied sciences
