QTEC Aerospace is seeking a GLOBAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER SME to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidates will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Provide Systems Engineering expertise and leadership to ensure a disciplined system engineering approach to the definition, development, and analysis of the system capabilities
  • Based on understanding of the design and results of comparisons, use related systems engineering tools and documents to analyze, understand, and propose changes to systems engineering analysis, user CONOPS, system operational concepts, and system and interface requirements specifications in support of the program
  • Work towards future BMDS capabilities, including sensor management, tasking, cueing, and discrimination architectures
  • Participate in developing, executing, and analyzing the results of various software tests in a lab environment as needed
  • Coordinating engineering disciplines to resolve system-level issues
  • Learn, understand, and represent the point of view of warfighters, operators, and system owners, ensuring it is respected adequately throughout the engineering efforts
  • Works as a member of the systems engineering team to develop innovative solutions to existing and new problems in their areas of expertise and ensure that the requirements of the system are understood and implemented correctly
  • Some travel is required

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of the systems engineering process and its underlying principles
  • Experience working in the missile defense domain or space domain awareness, including operational and technical issues associated with specific areas of the missile defense domain, such as engagement management, track management, sensor management, and networks
  • Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Case Briefings, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the application and use of systems engineering tools for requirements management and object-oriented requirements definition (e.g., DOORS)
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
  • Skills required include engineering leadership, identifying and defining desired capabilities, fielding new capabilities, defining system-of-systems, integration practices and methods, and communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
  • Awareness of program concepts
  • Must understand systems engineering, systems design, development, integration & test, and verification
  • Possess significant experience in a related engineering environment, with good knowledge and expertise in systems-of-systems definition and integration
  • Experience in Ballistic Missile defense
  • Previous experience leading complex teams in a key role
  • Ability to analyze high-level needs and, using a structured and logical approach, refine those needs into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product
  • Ability to lead/perform portions of the work and direct the activities of other systems engineers
  • Ability to work directly with multiple customer and contractor organizations
  • Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
  • Self-motivated and customer-oriented

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience using Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) processes and methods

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
