Motus Recruiting & Staffing is proud to partner with KairosPDX in the search for a *Family Engagement Coordinator.*
This is a fully onsite, contract-to-hire position. This position entails a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing family involvement, supporting school culture goals, and ensuring comprehensive support for families with the highest needs. The coordinator will work closely with school staff, families, community partners, and volunteers to create an inclusive and engaging environment for all stakeholders.

* *Location: *Portland, OR 97217 (FULLY ONSITE) * *Type: *6-Month Contract-to-Hire * *Pay Range: *$25.00 - $30.00/HR. (Depending on Experience)
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Serve as a welcoming presence for families, greeting them during drop-off and pick-up to foster strong relationships and a sense of belonging. * Lead culturally specific outreach efforts to engage and support families with the highest needs, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and connected to school resources. * Coordinate family involvement in events, programs, alumni engagement, and family conferences—ensuring clear communication and inclusive participation across all stakeholders. * Track and maintain detailed family engagement data, including attendance, demographics, communication preferences, family configurations, and regional cohorts. * Develop and enhance systems to prioritize tasks (immediate, short-term, and long-term) and manage ongoing communications with families, teachers, and partners. * Regularly communicate with school staff regarding family needs, feedback, and ideas, with an emphasis on elevating voices of the most impacted communities. * Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams, volunteers, and external community partners to strengthen engagement and support systems. * Represent KairosPDX at community partner meetings and events, serving as an ambassador for the organization’s mission and values. * Support grant and contract management related to family programming, including data collection, documentation, and compliance tracking. * Oversee the Ambassador (volunteer) program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, background checks, and ongoing record-keeping. Track in-kind donations and volunteer hours, ensuring all volunteers are well-prepared and aligned with organizational needs. * Coordinate internal culture-building events for staff (via the Joy Collective), including milestone celebrations, care packages, off-sites, and team engagement activities. * Lead planning and logistics for special initiatives such as the 5th Grade Washington, D.C. trip, including family communications, fundraising support, and itinerary management. * Attend KairosPDX staff and family events and participate in ongoing professional development to support personal and organizational growth. * Engage in continuous improvement practices, including regular collaboration, observation, and reflection to enhance the family engagement strategy and school culture.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
* BA degree preferred. * Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in fundraising, volunteer coordination, or community engagement. * Demonstrated experience managing data systems (CRMs, databases, or volunteer management tools). * Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a customer service mindset. * Ability to juggle multiple priorities with a high degree of organization and follow-through. * High cultural humility and ability to build trust with diverse families and communities. * Experience working with historically marginalized communities, especially BIPOC families. * Alignment with KairosPDX’s mission, vision, and values, including a deep belief in the power of culturally responsive and anti-racist education.
