Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing new electrical assemblies and subassemblies for aircraft ground support equipment. Provide technical support for products currently in production and at customers' locations.
Essential Functions
Apply electrical engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to the design and production of various ground support equipment including diesel engines systems, electric tugs, power rectifiers, and machine controls
Use knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software, including applications and PLC programming
Create technical drawings, schematics, and models using CAD software
Develop knowledge of aviation industry equipment and aircraft electrical systems. Apply knowledge of three phase motors, transformers and controls
Apply knowledge of control circuits, i.e. sensors, overloads etc.
Calculate required electrical power in a variety of electrical systems
Design and document wire harnesses
Troubleshoot operating errors on site, or through written and oral communication, and provide solutions to the issues
Create technical documentation for new products, including end-of-line test procedures and technical service manuals
Analyze needs and product requirements to create designs, prototypes, and tests plans
Install and provide training on electrical equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet customer specifications
Lead and coordinate system integration efforts across mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems to ensure cohesive project execution
Qualifications B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications Experience in medium to large scale job shop environment.
Experience utilizing SolidWorks CAD tool to create models and prints
Experience releasing engineering assemblies and components within a production ERP environment
Experience working as a team with Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing and Finance.
Experience in three-phase motor starting applications, including inverters, VFDs, soft-starters, and contactors w/overloads
Experience in control systems, including PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and safety circuits
Experience in communication networks, including Ethernet and CAN
Experience in specifying electrical and control components, including circuit breakers, fuses, power supplies, transformers, relays, buttons, and switches
Experience in designing and laying out control enclosures
Experience in creating/interpreting wiring schematics, wiring diagrams, and wire harness layouts
Experience in power electronic design and troubleshooting
Knowledge of and experience designing to NPFA 70 (NEC) Code
Experience in CE certification processes
Experience programming and collecting data with DAQ systems
Experience in closed-loop control and PID tuning
Experience interfacing with Engine Control Units (ECUs)

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and more than 25 pounds with assistance
Spend time working in the manufacturing environment to complete assigned projects. At such times, a greater amount of physical exertion, standing and walking would be required
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. The noise level in the work environment when in the office is usually quiet. The manufacturing environment noise level may be somewhat louder in certain areas and is subject to variations in temperature.
