The ideal candidate will be motivated to develop and build their personal knowledge and skills to assist with the growth and success of the office. Job Description

This position is in the office 100% of the time. The position will be providing Electrical Engineering and related CAD support to the Energy Group for their Solar Photovoltaic & Battery Storage projects.

The essential functions and responsibilities will be to:

  • Compile data
  • Perform electrical design calculations such as voltage drop, power and energy loss, cable sizing, overcurrent protection device sizing
  • Perform electrical studies such as short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, load flow & grounding
  • Prepare engineering CAD drawings such as electrical layouts, single line diagrams in addition to construction details based on existing templates

Works under Group Leader’s supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. This position will require an individual that is willing to perform a variety of tasks while working independently and as part of a team. At times assist the Project Team in technical meetings and correspondence with clients.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field is a plus
  • Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain in 6 months of hire
  • Proven experience in electrical design and experience and a minimum of one (1) years' experience with solar photovoltaic projects
  • Working toward obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) Electrical License
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD design in construction projects
  • Full knowledge of NEC code, and experience with electrical design tools (ETAP, XGSLab, PVSyst, EasyPower, or equivalent) would be a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision-making
  • Experience with design calculations, preparation of quantities and cost estimates, preparation of special provisions, and preparation of project plans is desired
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
