Dimensional Engineer

Pay Range: $35 - $42/hr (based on experience)

Schedule: Must be open to working any shift, including weekends and holidays
Overview:
Join a dynamic manufacturing team at the forefront of automotive innovation. As a Dimensional Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving vehicle fit and finish using advanced measurement technologies and data-driven quality systems. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, suppliers, and engineering to drive improvements, solve problems, and ensure excellence in dimensional quality.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support vehicle fit and finish initiatives using key metrics (GCA, A/B/C/FVS, etc.)
- Actively engage with floor operations to promote a safety-first, high-performance culture
- Execute and sustain quality systems aligned with Built-In Quality (BIQ IV) and Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using tools like Fast Response, DRR, FTQ, DRL, and CPIT reviews
- Maintain, calibrate, and manage advanced dimensional tools and systems including:
- Leica Scanners, Faro Arms, Laser Gages, CMMs, Vision Systems, CTAC fixtures, Scan Boxes, and Gap & Flush systems
- Analyze dimensional data using Dimensional Data Manager and post insights to GDIS and the Data Wall
- Collaborate on metrology strategy and maintain Vision-to-CMM correlation
- Document and manage tooling changes, shims, and vision alarm response systems
- Coordinate shift-to-shift communication to ensure process consistency and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR
- 5+ years of experience in toolmaking or automotive quality engineering if no degree
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with dimensional metrology systems (Leica, Faro, Vision, CMMs, etc.)
- Working knowledge of BIQ IV standards, quality control systems, and process documentation
- Skilled in dimensional data management (e.g., GDIS, Dimensional Data Manager)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
- Experience in a BIQ 4 automotive manufacturing plant is strongly preferred
