Design Engineer IV

Our Client, a Business Manufacturing and Supply company, is looking for a Design Engineer IV for their Wilmington, NC location.
Responsibilities: Majority of time will be spent at a CAD station working on designs Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs. Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required. Redline existing drawings and follow-up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues. Execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues. Take personal responsibility for all aspects of ensuring designs meet form, fit, and function goals established by internal customers and project manager. Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by project and evolutionary equipment needs.
Requirements: Sound knowledge of job and a substantial acquaintance with the general aspects of the job. Intermediate level technical understanding. Implements standard procedures and proposes intermediate level modifications to improve workflow. Still generally obtains input to solve more complex problems. Works under general site supervision. Able to gather information independently using established and defined procedures. Takes initiative in the area of continuous improvement. Uses some discretion. Contacts are typically within organization. May occasionally have contacts with others outside of the organization to seek clarity or ask for interpretation. AAS REQUIRED in Engineering Design- Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent. Experience: 3+ years is a must Attention to detail on SolidWorks or Inventor drawings. Ability to self-manage multiple tasks, with changing priorities/timelines. Good communication with other technicians and engineers. Experience with sheet metal, structural steel, and/or high temp equipment. AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.) Self-motivated Results oriented Ability to handle multiple priorities Ability to work well with varied job requirements Ability to work well in small teams is essential Well organized GD&T understanding and experience Proficient with pneumatic and electrical schematics Thorough understanding of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators Unique or special requirements: Capable of generating a full drawing package for typical industrial equipment from assembly to detailed drawings. Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment/systems to enable proper new designs or modifications to existing. Routinely performs elementary design calculations; i.e., statics, hydraulics, power transmission, etc. Equipment or software experience preferred: Windows, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel, Word, AutoCADĀ® 2023, Vault, Inventor 2023 Equipment familiarization preferred: Personal Computers Precision measurement devices such as Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers, etc. Knowledge of operation or direct experience with machine shop and fabrication shop processes that aid design for efficient manufacture.
