We’re expanding our federal team and seeking a Data Engineer to join our federal team.  This position is currently 100% remote. Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance Position Overview: The Data Engineer will support our client’s data initiatives with a focus on database development, data mapping, migration, and data warehouse optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, and data transformation techniques. While experience with Power BI is a plus, our primary focus is on your ability to design, implement, and optimize data models, mappings, and pipelines that drive business analytics and reporting. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain complex data mappings and transformations to meet evolving business requirements and performance metrics. Design and enhance data models to support application redevelopment efforts. Participate in the full data lifecycle: design, extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), and optimization of data loads. Act as a business analyst, engaging with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and improve analytical outcomes. Engineer scalable solutions to accelerate data loads and reduce processing time, minimizing disruption to fact and dimension tables. Document business and technical requirements, existing processes, and production objects. Contribute to a change management team to improve data quality, reporting reliability, and architecture scalability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, test, and implement solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integrity, performance, and visualization.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or analytics (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Proficiency in SQL, Oracle, and SQL Server. Experience in data warehousing, data migration, and data transformation techniques. Solid understanding of ETL processes, data modeling, and performance tuning. Ability to interpret and analyze complex datasets and convert them into actionable insights. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Oracle BI (Power BI preferred but not required). Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical data clearly to stakeholders and executive leadership. Experience documenting data processes and producing deliverables like data flow diagrams, user guides, and technical specifications. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a team-based environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting federal clients, particularly government financial/procurement systems. Understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
