CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to safeguard the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of federal systems through rigorous security practices, continuous monitoring, and compliance enforcement. In this role, you will support classified programs by detecting and mitigating cyber threats, implementing Zero Trust principles, and conducting comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments. As part of a high-performance cybersecurity team, you will design, audit, and automate security controls across hybrid networks, containerized environments, and cloud platforms to ensure mission system resilience and compliance.


RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Implement and automate security controls using tools like Ansible, REST APIs, and compliance frameworks.
  • Perform STIG-based hardening, IV&V testing, and risk assessments across platforms and systems.
  • Support RMF/ATO processes and continuous monitoring in collaboration with ISSOs, ISSMs, and ISSEs.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning, log analysis, and incident response using tools such as Nessus, HBSS, Splunk, and NetWitness.
  • Integrate and manage authentication and access controls, including MFA and OAuth solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
    • DoD polygraph preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF, ICD 503, NIST SP 800-53, DoD 8500, and CNSSI 1253.
  • Proficient in Python or Go for automating security assessments and compliance tasks.
  • Experience securing containerized environments such as OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Skilled in using SIEM tools, encryption protocols, firewalls, and implementing STIGs.
  • CISSP or equivalent certification is preferred.
