Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $56 - $60 hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite Job Summary: The Cybersecurity Engineer plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the organization’s cybersecurity infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing security tools, supporting cross-functional teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes and practices. The engineer will also assist in ensuring the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) has the tools and systems needed to operate effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with IT, Governance, Application, and Security teams to design, develop, and document secure technology solutions. Provide support for cybersecurity tools and platforms, assisting with administration and troubleshooting. Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance the use and configuration of security tools. Promote and implement cybersecurity best practices to ensure tools and systems are optimized for performance and protection. Evaluate and recommend new technologies that align with organizational goals and security needs. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership. Participate in the development and implementation of process and program improvements. Assist in mentoring junior team members and resolving complex technical issues.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in cybersecurity or systems engineering roles. Hands-on experience with technologies such as firewalls, routing, SIEM, identity and access management, cloud platforms, and application security tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with networking concepts, operating systems, and security fundamentals. Experience with tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure. Strong problem-solving and teamwork capabilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with core networking technologies and troubleshooting. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and security (AWS, Azure, etc.). Understanding of protocols such as HTTPS, SFTP, and SSH. Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP). Experience with Windows and Linux/Unix environments. Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, IAM, and vulnerability scanners. Familiarity with ticketing systems and infrastructure management tools.
