Role Summary :
The Internal Corrosion Engineer or Specialist Sr. is responsible for leading and managing internal corrosion control programs to ensure the integrity and safety of pipeline operations. This role acts as the subject matter expert in internal corrosion mechanisms, monitoring, inspection, and mitigation strategies, supporting both onshore and offshore operations. The position involves cross-functional collaboration with Technical Services, Operations, and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and industry regulations (e.g., DOT 192/195, NACE/AMPP). Responsibilities include data analysis, audits, standards development, and training delivery to drive performance improvements and cost-effective corrosion management.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Internal Corrosion Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and manage internal corrosion control programs ensuring regulatory and company compliance.
- Interpret and apply industry standards (DOT 192/195, API, NACE/AMPP, INGAA, PRCI).
- Monitor, test, and analyze internal corrosion mechanisms and mitigation effectiveness.
- Manage internal corrosion databases, generate reports, and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Develop and maintain company guidelines and internal standards for corrosion control.
- Deliver training programs and technical presentations to teams and leadership.
- Participate in audits and ensure continuous compliance with company and regulatory operating requirements.
- Collaborate with operations and technical services to address internal corrosion-related issues.
- Support specialty chemical applications for wet gas gathering, hazardous liquids, sweetening, and dehydration systems.
- Contribute to cost optimization by evaluating and improving corrosion control strategies.
- Champion company core values, safety culture, and process excellence.
- (Engineer Sr. only) May supervise and mentor junior staff; manage larger scope projects and act as project lead.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (with PE License).
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in natural gas or petrochemical industry.
- Proficiency in corrosion control, mitigation strategies, and regulatory compliance (49 CFR 192/195).
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of oil & gas industry experience.
- Must have valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Preferred:
- PE License and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- NACE/AMPP Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist certification.
- Project Management experience.
- Technical Specialist Sr.:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field.
- 10+ years in field operations, corrosion control, or pipeline integrity.
