Department: Engineering / Automation Reports To: Engineering Manager / Controls Engineering Lead Job Type: Full-Time Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer with strong experience in Rockwell Automation control systems and electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, programming, and maintaining industrial control systems for manufacturing and automation equipment. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to implement and support automated solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement PLC-based control systems (primarily Rockwell / Allen-Bradley). Program and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation platforms including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE/ME, and PanelView HMIs. Integrate and maintain electro-mechanical systems including motors, drives, sensors, actuators, and robotics. Develop system schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software. Perform on-site startup, commissioning, and debugging of control systems. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to design and implement control strategies for new and existing equipment. Ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, UL, CE, OSHA) in all control system designs. Maintain and update control documentation, code backups, and version control. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting of production equipment to minimize downtime. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend upgrades or improvements to automation systems. Qualifications: Required: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. 3+ years of experience in control system design and integration, specifically with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley platforms. Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, including motion control and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, etc.). Proficient with HMI/SCADA development and PLC ladder/structured text programming. Experience with electrical schematics and panel layout design. Preferred: Experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, etc.), vision systems, or other advanced automation technologies. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and control panel design standards. Familiarity with MES systems or industrial data collection systems. Skills & Competencies: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team. Willingness to travel occasionally for equipment installation, support, or commissioning.
