In this role, you will design, develop, and build low and medium voltage switchgear for generator paralleling applications. The position requires a thorough understanding of industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance and the successful implementation of projects.
Responsibilities
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, applying them while considering industry regulations such as NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements.
Create a bill of materials in the ERP system for generator paralleling switchgear controls.
Provide direction to purchasing, procurement, and CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings.
Support production during equipment manufacturing.
Write and validate PLC code for generator control systems, interfacing with various communication protocols.
Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators parallel to one or more utility sources.
Interact with internal and external customers to accomplish project milestones.
Execute multiple projects simultaneously.
Essential Skills
Ability to create PLC programs using IEC PLC Programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, or Structured Text.
Design, test, and commission control systems, including interfacing with different PLC controllers and manufacturers.
Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms with expert knowledge on at least one PLC platform, such as M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture.
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, applying industry regulations and requirements.
Customize PLC software and hardware templates.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Detailed understanding of NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls.
Knowledge of protective relays and their functions associated with generator and utility protection applications.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Open to candidates with a 2-year degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience.
Master's degree candidates with 3+ years of experience are also considered.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of a 60/40 split between office and shop floor settings within an air-conditioned manufacturing facility. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, ensuring safety and compliance during operations. The role involves collaboration with a team of 5-8 engineers, while reporting to the Engineering Manager.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $39.00/hr.
