Due to continued growth, they are seeking a talented Senior Controls & Application Engineer to join their team. Position Overview
The Senior Controls & Application Engineer will develop control system engineering and standard application software selection for assigned projects. This role requires expertise in designing systems that comply with project specifications while optimizing functionality and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will collaborate with account representatives, project managers, automation specialists, and installation technicians to ensure successful implementation of control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform control equipment selection and capacity calculations
Ensure proper equipment sizing (valves, dampers, panels, controller counts, memory capacity, etc.)
Conduct timely reviews of control sequences and components to identify potential scope gaps and proactively identify cost-saving measures
Communicate effectively with Engineers of Record regarding system requirements and modifications
Prepare control systems submittals, as-built wiring diagrams, and operating/maintenance manuals according to project schedules
Utilize Project Support Center personnel for Revit work, submittal preparation, and material logistics
Adhere to building design specifications, plans, VE modifications, and design standards
Participate in ongoing review and enhancement of ACS design and implementation standards
Develop standard control sequences that define all parameters necessary for software application development
Select optimal control platforms to meet customer requirements while maintaining project budget alignment
Mentor and develop Junior Applications and Applications Engineers
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of experience working in an engineering or design capacity on communicating or networked electronic systems
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences OR
Equivalent technical training in a related field with 4+ years of experience working directly with commercial facility digital control and facility management systems
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer's License
10+ years' experience in HVAC Controls, Building Automation, or Energy Monitoring
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated competency in Windows, Microsoft Office, function block programming environments, web-enabled applications, and database software
Self-starter with ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Excellent time management skills with ability to maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Meticulous attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks
Serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting deadlines
Ability to take on additional responsibilities and manage priorities with minimal guidance

Working Conditions
Moderate exposure to elements (hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, noise)
Some exposure to construction, mechanical, and electrical-related hazards requiring basic safety precautions
Physical requirements include handling objects up to 50 pounds and extensive standing/walking
Local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations
Ability to climb stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders and scaffolds, and navigate work areas under construction
