The salary range represents a general guideline as ISI considers several factors when determining compensation to include but not limited to the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market location of the position. Position Summary ISI seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in boiler plants and mechanical systems for an on-site construction management role supporting a Boiler Plant Replacement at the Montgomery VAMC. The engineer will serve as an Owner’s Representative, providing construction oversight, commissioning support, documentation review, and cost/schedule validation on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Key Responsibilities Conduct site inspections and monitor mechanical work for code compliance and adherence to contract specifications Review contractor submittals, RFIs, commissioning plans, and daily construction reports Track construction progress, identify deviations from schedule, and recommend corrective actions Support commissioning/start -up activities including test witnessing and documentation review Assist the government with change order reviews, REA analysis, and claims support Maintain accurate records including field redlines and as-built documentation Ensure all installed mechanical systems are compliant with VA standards, safety codes, and O&M deliverables Provide technical findings in support of disputes, cost estimating, and project risk analysis Minimum Qualifications Education : B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution Experience : 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, including boiler plants or similar healthcare/industrial facility construction Skills : Knowledge of applicable codes (e.g., ASME, NFPA, IBC), ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Eligibility : Ability to pass a Public Trust background check Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal healthcare facilities (VA or other agencies) Experience with VA Design Guides Familiarity with commissioning protocols and boiler plant operations Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Physical Requirements : This job operates in a professional office environment.
